THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville resident has been charged in the December 2019 shooting death of an Albany man at a local apartment complex.
Dontavious Williams, 29, who has been in the Thomas County Jail since the night of the fatal shooting, is charged with killing 38-year-old Bryan Johnson, 12084 Wright St., Albany.
2020欧冠名单The shooting took place at Villa North Apartments, 510 Old Albany Road, where the suspect lived.
The shooting occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, Dec. 23. Johnson was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital, where he died from gunshot injuries.
2020欧冠名单"Thomasville Police Department detectives and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been following up on many leads since the shooting," said Lt. Tony Knifer, TPD Criminal Investigations Division commander.
TPD detectives and GBI agents were conducting interviews with potential witnesses at Villa North during the hours after the shooting. At that time, Williams already was a person of interest, the commander said.
2020欧冠名单When officers attempted to interview Williams, he tried to flee. After a physical struggle with officers, Williams was subdued and charged with felony obstruction.
2020欧冠名单"He already had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on another offense," Knifer said, adding that the offense was pointing a gun at another.
Knifer said evidence gathered by police and the GBI led to the murder charge.
2020欧冠名单The commander would not release how many times Johnson was shot, the caliber of projectiles or whether the firearm used in the killing has been recovered.
